British Traditional Many students just beginning their studies of Witchcraft think that there is only one Witchcraft which is Wicca. It is important for beginners to realize that their are many paths which call themselves Witchcraft that one can follow. By learning the differences between them, you can not only enrich your knowledge, but even guide yourself towards a path that's best suited for you.
It is common for people to use the terms Witchcraft and Wicca interchangabley. Whether they are different or just a way of discribing the same thing depends on which Witch you ask. Either way you look at it, there is more than one path or tradition. .
British Traditional craft. This tradition of Witchcraft or Wicca actually has two sub divisions: 1. Any of the old traditions closely related to the Gardnerian Craft but excluding family traditions and other British traditions dissimilar to Gardnerian Wicca. 2.) Any of the old British traditions, including the old family and Bardic traditions.
Traditional: Many branches of the craft
claim to be pre-Gardnerian. These usually call themselves Traditional. This covers a lot
of territory and depends on the area of origin (i.e. Wales, Scotland, Ireland, France,
Germany, Italy, Basque, etc.).
Traditions: Systems of training in the Craft: Some traditions are: Gardnerian, Celtic
Traditionalist, British Traditional, Welsh Traditionalist, Dynion Mwyn, Alexandrian,
Continentalist, American Traditional, Stregha, Fairy, Fari, Feminist, Dianic, etc.
